Dylan Jakeman, a local lad, and intern at KR Group, is celebrating his selection for Scotland’s under-18 rugby squad. Jakeman, and his youth Scotland teammates will travel to Caerphilly, Wales this weekend to face the Welsh team. Saturday’s game will be a warm-up for the squad ahead of April’s Six Nations festival in Italy.
Dylan, who is also hopeful of being selected for the Six Nations matches in April says, “I love rugby, and have wanted to represent my country for a long time. This is stage one of doing that and I’m very excited.”
Talented young player, Dylan, has been passionate about rugby from an early age. The Scottish Rugby Union signed a contract with him, after he was scouted while playing for a local team in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
Jakeman joined the KR Group team in May 2023, and has since assisted our plant and vehicle, site and workshop teams on a range of projects. One job that stood out was the construction of university accommodation in Aberdeen.
Dylan said, “I really enjoyed working with the team on the Justice Mill accommodation development in Summer. It was great spending full days on site, in great weather! I enjoyed being hands-on and learning more about what goes into steel construction. Maintaining physical fitness for rugby is important to me, and being active on-site and in the workshop complements what I’m doing on the pitch.”
He continued, “I’m also enjoying the work I’m doing in KR Group’s sheet metal workshop. Cutting and folding the metal to create flashings, gutters, and louvres for a variety of jobs has been great. Every day is different!”
