CHAP Group contracted KR Group on behalf of Film-Ocean to construct a bespoke 1,400 m² facility.
An independent subsea contractor, Film-Ocean, is based in Aberdeenshire, providing ROV inspection and intervention services.
We won both the steel and cladding packages for the Film-Ocean project. This meant we completed the full design, fabrication, procurement and installation of products.
Our team successfully roofed the facility with Gemello® which is an innovative twin-skin roof and wall system from manufacturer, Steadmans.
The new headquarters house a large workshop with a test tank, and an overhead gantry crane for wet testing ROVs. There are also offices, meeting rooms, and a remote offshore control room.
The building was designed to exceed the current requirements of building standards, thereby reducing the energy requirement of the facilities through continued improved performance. In addition, the facility was constructed to tight tolerances, ensuring that drafts and air leakage are significantly reduced, improving energy efficiency.
The facilities include an extensive workshop and ROV test tank, which will be able to use the rainwater harvesting system. The system gathers rainwater for jet washing equipment, supplying the wash bay, topping up the ROV test tank. Additionally, it supplies water for landscaping and planting.
We completed the project to the job specifications in 10 months, from start to finish.
