KR Group are proud to have supported St Machar Academy by providing study packs for senior pupils ahead of their upcoming SQA exams. Our KRedit student, Lucy, took on this project. Read her blog below.
Hi, my name is Lucy Duncan, and I am 16 years old. In my spare time, I do contemporary and jazz dancing at Evolution School of Dance in Inverurie. I also like shopping and going out with my friends.
I recently left school and since February I have been working at KR Group for a few days each week to get some experience. Some of the tasks I am responsible for are help with reception duties, general office admin like scanning and filing, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) tasks, internal comms and keeping the office organised and tidy.
We were contacted by St Machar Academy to see if we could support their senior pupils getting ready to sit exams by providing them with study packs.
I was tasked with this project and started by making an initial plan with the support of my supervisor, Amy.
To begin with, I looked around the office to see if we had any supplies that would be suitable. I found KR branded pencils and multi-coloured highlighters which I thought would be perfect.
I then looked online at different suppliers to find stationary which was in our budget and matched our brief. By doing this, I learned how to compare costs and products to find the best option.
After deciding which products to order and getting approval from my supervisor, I helped to place the order ensuring it would arrive in our set timescale. I ordered rulers, flash cards, pencil cases, mini notebooks, pens and folders.
Once all the items arrived, I organised them into box which was delivered to the school pupils by our Business Director, Nicola Fraser.

“I enjoyed leading this project and supporting other young people during exam season. It has been nice knowing they will get good use of the supplies and I feel proud to have helped them. I provided. During this project I learned how to raise a PO and place an order while improving my emailing, organisational and planning skills. I also got to use my problem-solving skills when making sure I could get everything we needed whilst staying in the budget. This project has linked back to my work recording CSR initiatives, and it was nice to be able to take charge of a project that benefitted others.”
