Each year, KR Group commits to a year-long fundraising partnership with a charity and this year, our chosen charity is Grampian Opportunities.
Grampian Opportunities is a Scottish charity, based in the North-East, with a hub in Inverurie. Its work includes promoting employability, and opening up opportunities for people with disabilities, mental health problems, sensory impairment and autism.
Fundraising events we’ve held this year
KR Group kick started this year’s fundraising with ‘March into March’, where employees walked as many miles as they could for the month of March, reaching key project locations across Scotland. We decided to donate 30p per mile to celebrate the team’s efforts; a total of 507 miles added £152.10 to the fundraising pot.
In May, KR Group hosted a 5-aside Charity Football Tournament at Strikers Indoor Football in Aberdeen which raised over £800. Nine local businesses entered the tournament, and Baker Hughes walked away with the trophy.
On Sunday 2nd June, KR Group gathered a team of 20, made up of employees and supporters from the local area to take part in the Kiltwalk ‘Mighty Stride’. The walk started at Duthie Park in Aberdeen, and finished at Bellfield Park in Banchory. Team ‘Steely Striders’ successfully completed the challenge and raised over £2,500 for Grampian Opportunities.
Upcoming fundraising events
We’re hosting our annual charity Fun and Fizz event (more details here) on 31st August in Ellon. Guests can look forward to afternoon tea, dancing, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo, and a special appearance by DJ JMAC! Tickets are £30 per person – contact caitlin@krgroup.co.uk to book.
