A huge congratulations to our FASET Supervisor, Mark Lamont—or Jim as he is fondly known—on being awarded FASET Installer of the Year at the 2024 AGM Awards!
The awards ceremony took place on Thursday, 28th November, at the Worsley Park Country Club in Manchester. Jim was accompanied by our Managing Director, Kenny Robertson, to celebrate this incredible achievement.
The AGM Awards are a celebration of excellence in working-at-height safety. They recognise FASET (Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training) members who go above and beyond in their commitment to safety and professionalism.
In his role as the FASET Installer at KR Group, Jim leads the division for both areas of our membership, which include edge protection and safety nets. Jim knows the guidance and regulations like the back of his hand, as widely acknowledged by colleagues and customers!
Jim began his career at KR Group back in 2014, originally as a steel erector. Over the years, as it became clear he had a knack for safety and problem-solving, he grew into the role of FASET Supervisor.
Despite managing multiple projects, he consistently prioritises site safety and pays special attention to protecting his colleagues who work at height. Mark ensures every FASET project undertaken by KR Group, across the UK, is carried out to the highest standard.
With his attention to detail and understanding of safety protocols, Jim is an inspiration and role model to his colleagues. He is always ready to offer advice and demonstrate best practices when installing safety systems. Recently, he guided several team members through their GSA assessments. This further showcased his dedication to fostering growth and expertise within the team.

“Mark’s knowledge on FASET is second to none—he keeps me right more times than I’d like to admit! Mark does his job to a standard that is truly commendable for one person. When audit time comes around, I never have to ask him to do anything because he’s always one step ahead of me. Having Mark as part of our team is a privilege – we’re very lucky to have him.”

“Jim has been FASET Installer at the Suez Recycling Project in Aberdeen this year where the work footprint was 162m x 136m. He carried out his pre-start and set up works in a very professional and diligent manner. He is very knowledgeable of his RAMS and carries out the install in a safe manner. Jim is also informative of works he is about to carry out which helps the Site Management Team when it comes to interfacing with other trades on site.
Nothing seems to be a problem, and Jim often comes up with innovative solutions. He is approachable and attracts is a ‘go-to’ person on site to assist with a varied scope of operations.
Jim fits in immensely on site and takes pressure off the Site Management team, knowing that works are being carried out in a safe, tidy and correct manner under his watchful eye. He carries out Safety Checks and Handover Certification efficiently to meet the criteria.
Having Mark on site means the pressure is off me as I know that the works are in a good, trustworthy pair of hands.”
