We are shining the spotlight on another of our amazing juniors, David.
David has been working at KR since summer 2025 and has been really enjoying gaining some great experience for the future.
Tell me a bit about yourself and what you’ve been doing at KR Group
My name is David and I am 15 years old. I am in S4 at Ellon Academy. In my spare time, I like mountain biking, surfing and snowboarding and am currently building a racing lawnmower.
At KR I typically work in the yard, cleaning/washing vehicles, clean the workshops and units and sometimes I work in the office doing admin. Some of the jobs in this office I’ve been doing is processing COSHH assessments and filing paperwork for jobs.
When do you usually work?
I typically work at the weekend and during school holidays/time off school.
What have you been working on recently?
I’ve been working on the new car park recently. Helping lay the new concrete and making the new path to the office. It has been nice to watch the progress of this and exciting to be a part of it.

What do you most enjoy about working at KR Group?
I enjoy being around who I work with because everyone is so nice and welcoming. They are always willing to help me if I’m unsure what I’m doing or have any questions. Working with people experienced is also good because they teach me how to do things more efficiently and effectively.
What subjects do you enjoy at school?
I enjoy physics, engineering science, woodwork, PE and maths.
Where do you see yourself in a few years – what kind of job would you like to have?
I would like to be doing an apprenticeship in ROV or doing an apprenticeship in electrical engineering/ mechanical engineering. An apprenticeship appeals to be because you are still learning but getting the hands-on experience you wouldn’t get just being in education. You also get to join the earn and learn scheme which I like so I can make my own money and save for things I want to buy.
Who has been a role model to you?
My Dad is my role model because he is a hard worker. He works in the Oil & Gas industry, and I want to be like him when I’m older. I aim to be successful like my Dad and be able to buy nice things!
Nicola Fraser, Managing Director, commented:
“David has come on massively since joining us, and his attitude has been spot on from day one. We regularly get great feedback about how he gets stuck in, whether he’s helping the mechanics, working in the yard, out on site or even supporting in the office. Giving young people like David the chance to build confidence and real work skills is exactly why we run our KRedit programme, and it’s been brilliant to see his progress.”
