On 1st June 2025, ten members of the KR Group Scotland team took part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk. The group included staff, family, and friends. Together, they laced up their trainers to raise funds for local mental health organisation, Men in Mind.

KR Group Scotland is a leading provider of specialist construction and engineering services. The company is based in Aberdeenshire and operates across the UK. It has expertise in steel and metal fabrication, cladding, and project management. KR Group works across several sectors, including commercial, industrial, agricultural, and energy. The company is widely known for its commitment to both quality and community. Alongside technical excellence, KR Group places a strong focus on people—both within its team and in the wider communities it serves.

The 18-mile journey began at Bellfield Park in Banchory and ended at Duthie Park in Aberdeen. Although the Scottish weather was unpredictable—bringing sunshine, rain, and everything in between—Team Steely Striders pressed on and completed the route just in time. Remarkably, they narrowly avoided a dramatic bout of thunder, lightning, and hail.

Their efforts were well worth it. The team raised an impressive £1,855 for Men in Mind. The charity runs in-person, peer-to-peer support groups across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. These groups give men a safe space to talk openly about their mental health. As a result, KR Group’s fundraising total for the year (so far!) now stands at around £4,000.

At KR Group, we’re proud to be part of the Northeast Scotland community, and we believe it’s important to give back in ways that make a difference,” said Karen McAra, HR Business Partner.

Taking on the Kiltwalk was a great chance for our team to come together, push ourselves, and support a local cause that’s close to our hearts—helping Men in Mind continue their vital work for men’s mental health in the area.

What else have the team been up to?

This isn’t the team’s first initiative in support of mental wellbeing. In addition to the Kiltwalk, earlier fundraising events have included a lively bingo night at Ashvale Chipper in Aberdeen and a competitive football tournament at Strikers Indoor Football. Looking ahead, the team is gearing up to host a charity pub quiz in October—details coming soon!

With every step, and event, KR Group continues to champion mental health and support meaningful change in its local community.
