Last month saw the return of KR Group’s Charity Football Tournament, where local businesses swapped a day in the office for a day of footie, to raise cash for local people living with disabilities.
KR Group invited clients and associates back to the charity 5-aside at Strikers Indoor Football Club in Aberdeen. The event saw Motive Offshore, MN Hamilton & Sons, WM Donald, Nu Style Products, CHAP, Baker Hughes, H&R Insurance, and our own team, battle it out for the winners trophy.
Proceeds totalling £855 will be donated to our charity of the year, Grampian Opportunities. We covered venue costs to ensure the charity receives as much as possible from the event.
The charity aims to develop the employability skills of people with disabilities. They do this through activities such as life skills groups, community activities, learning programs, and peer support groups. Based in Inverurie, they work across Aberdeen City, Shire, and Moray to provide support across communities in these areas.
KR Group’s Business and Accounts Coordinator/tournament organiser, Lauren Moroney, had this to say about the 2024 event.
“The third annual Charity Football Tournament was a huge success!
It was lovely to see businesses return, but also hosting companies for the first time. It was also rewarding to see a range of industries come together for a kick-about with colleagues in the name of charity.
She continues, “A massive thank you goes out to Strikers for continuing to support our event for another year. Thanks to Keith Builders Merchants who unfortunately couldn’t make it due to injuries but still made a donation. Congratulations to the team at Baker Hughes, and to the runners up, H&R Insurance, for making it to the finals!”
The team are already planning next years’ tournament! If you’re interested in getting a team together, keep an eye on our Linkedin page for updates.
