AGENDA OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

KR Group Makes a Pact for the Planet

We are lucky to live in Scotland, one of the most beautiful and biodiverse countries in the world. To preserve our landscapes and wildlife, it is essential that businesses make conscious steps to limit or offset their carbon footprint.

We are therefore delighted to announce that KR Group is now a member of The Partnership Platform, a global registry of like-minded organisations in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the heart of the UN’s Agenda of Sustainable Development, are 17 Sustainable Development Goals that serve as a call to action in “ending poverty, improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”

As part of our circular economic journey, KR Group has proudly registered with the following goals: 12, to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns; 13, to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts; and 17, to make global partnerships for sustainable development.

The first step in demonstrating real, tangible change is to focus on our environmental impact, and to make fundamental changes within the business to reduce our carbon emissions. One of our initiatives is KR Bon Reduction, our circular economic solution to cladding waste.

Aside from our various sustainability projects, any remaining carbon is offset via our partnership with Highland Carbon, who manage ‘offsetting projects’ such as forest protection and reforestation, windfarms, solar arrays, hydropower, waste reduction and community schemes.

In March 2022, KR Group successfully became ‘Carbon Neutral’, achieving a balance between the carbon the business emits and the carbon it prevents.

Coming out the other side of a global pandemic, and the economic impact of that as a construction business has been difficult.

Ellen Delph, our Product Development Manager, has been managing KR Group’s registry with The Partnership Platform. “We have chosen to join The Partnership Platform and hold ourselves accountable in our journey to Net Zero.”

She continues, “Coming out the other side of a global pandemic, and the economic impact of that as a construction business has been difficult. We are really proud of the progress we’ve made, and that combating climate change remains at the forefront of our work.”

As we continue to grow and service the construction industry nationwide, we will take pride in our sustainability efforts and look forward to building strong partnerships for change.
